Philippe Reypens was born in Brussels. Trained in journalism and screenwriting atthe Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), he is a former backup singer and music lover—vocal music naturally runs through his entire filmography.
Since 1998, he has been developing a distinctive cinematic style that lies somewhere between creative documentary and poetic fiction. His trilogy on the arts— *L'Or des anges* (children's voices), *Le Songe* (photography), and *Eliot* (cinema)—explores the themes of artistic vocation, creation, and beauty. His feature film Higgi, Inspiring Voices (2018), co-directed with Loïc Porcher, was released in theaters in Belgium.
An independent director and producer, he regularly collaborates with Arte and RTBF. His aesthetic and contemplative style stands apart from the conventions of mainstream Belgian cinema.
